This is strange, the discs are not mounted identically

Here is the front disc, the actual working surface area doesn't cover the entire 15mm width of the available disc area down to the supports

Below is the rear disc and you can see that the working surface area covers the entire 15mm down to the supports

I wonder whether this is significant?

Still trying to cure the noise from the rear disc brake

The replacement Swisstop pads came today, but my hopes that they would clear the noise were unfounded, and when I removed the old pads and examined them I found they were already badly damaged after only 300 miles

There is clear physical damage along the bottom edge of this pad, not normal wear

And the damage to the bottom edge of the second pad shows it has literally been hammered.

The obvious conclusion is that there is something wrong with the rotor, so I have sent off for a new one, which should hopefully finally solve the problem.

On the credit side the braking effect from the swisstop pads is far superior to the originals.,

The Clocks have changed and we have had the First frost

I had an early ride to the Health centre to make an appointment for my wife

Apart from the chill in the air the only discordant note was the annoying noise from the rear disc brake, which I have been unable to cure, I have now sent off for some swisstop  pads.
Expensive at £18.94. lets hope they are worth it!

I downloaded this  app for my Android devices, and very good it is too, covering just about everything you need to know about to maintain your bike, including videos

It has rained for over 36 hours, but at last the sky has cleared

And I was able to get out on the bike for a local ride and enjoy the sunset

The temperature has dropped as the weather forecast predicted and at last I can find out how good the lights are on this new bike

I have invested in one of those aerosol puncture repairs, for who wants to repair a puncture in the dark? and a "Slime" filled inner tube to fit rather than use a puncture patch

On the subject of noisy Hub motors

This new machine is by far the noisiest of the three Ebikes I own, paradoxically the first one, the Viking Eco stepper was the cheapest by far, and has always been very quiet, the motor only ever emitting a pleasing light hum, even at maximum power.

The second machine is my converted Brompton which was noisy for some years, and just recently I stripped the motor, which proved to be in excellent condition internally despite the noise, and now after greasing it is as quiet as the Viking

Meanwhile the third bike the "Big Bear" seems to be quieting down somewhat after 250 miles, and the noisy rear disc brake seems better too and may well be bedding in.

Now completed the first 250 miles on the Big Bear

And early on I took advantage of an offer from Woosh of a demonstration seat post that they tried but don't sell as they are expensive, so I was lucky enough to buy their demo model for £40, an absolute bargain!

The paralleogram movement is brilliant at smoothing out the ride over bumps, a really significanT improvement!
I also added a mirror, as on the roads in the city they really are an essential i you value your life!

I feel much safer with this fitted!

And I found that the limited movement of old age was causing me to scuff the paintwork, so out cam the trusty red electrical insulation tape that served me so well on the Brompton

Not glamorous, but very effective, and thieves aren't keen on bikes that have such a visible and hard to remove marking!

The Motor noise has reduced quite a bit as Andy at Woosh said it would, for a while I was plagued with  a thudding noise from the rear hydraulic disc Brake, but after removing and flatting down the pads, degreasing the disc and bedding the pads in, that seems ok now too.

So far I am very pleased indeed with the bike, it has the 17AH battery and I charge it at 50 miles intervals , leaving the battery meter still showing about twenty % capacity, which I think is excellent.
So far the bike and Woosh get top marks from me.

Bought another Ebike: a Woosh big bear delivered 1st October 2019

And a fine machine it is too, it was delivered yesterday 1st October 2019 just a couple of problems, the front light flash mode doesn't work and the motor is noisy and makes a chafing noise
I tried to record it but taping the phone onto the front forks meant the noise was drowned out by static.
I had a conversation with Andy at Woosh and he confirmed that the Front lamps now don't flash, as regulations require a continuous light, so that was fine.
Here is is as it arrived plus a pair of Halfords pannier bags I added

It is easily the most comfortable ride of my three Ebikes  and I can get just the Handlebar position I want for once
